Hey everyone! This might be a bit of a lengthy post, rally none of which will be including what I actually did today. It will also contain spoilers of the new Harry Potter movie, or, what I can describe in words of it- which may not be much.
But here we go... gonna get sentimental here for a bit so be prepared.
So, I've actually been anticipating watching this movie for quite some time now. I didn't even get to see the first part in theaters because I was so busy with basketball and such, and I regret not doing so.
But, so I get in to the theater... and I immediately start thinking of how much of my life has revolved around this franchise.
I have always been a giant supporter of the movies, but I didn't read the books until almost 3 years ago. A while ago, but yes, still late to the party.
I mean, when I was little, Harry Potter was everything. I had the glasses, a doll, the broom (Nimbus 2000, bitches!), a potions kit, video games, you name it, I had it. I even played Harry Potter with my babysitter when I was younger to make the time pass.
This was 2001... I was about 6 years old, going on 7. But still, imagine how the magic world such as the one J.K. Rowling created could impact a little girl like me. I mean, I wanted to be just like Harry, Ron, and Hermoine. I did my best to be brave and stand up for what I believed in just like they would have. They, if I dare say, shaped the kind of person I am today.
Now looking past, it's really evident how much the movies and books have impacted my life. Whenever I was feeling stressed, or things weren't going my way, I could flip on the DVD player, or just open a book and I'd be immersed in a world that I could never imagine in my wildest dreams. J.K. Rowling did me, and millions of people around the world a giant favor by introducing these books to us, and every single bit of credit, whether it be money, awards, or even fan letters, is more than deserving.
If, by some odd chance that she, or anyone connected to the films or books in any way, shape or form, I would like to thank them personally for making my childhood magical. And I know that this was the last movie to ever be made for this, but the magic of it will never end, so long as we keep the flame alive within ourselves.
Like Jo said, "Whether you come back by film or by page, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home."
But, now here I was sitting in a room with 10-odd other people (no, there weren't that many people, mainly because the movie started at 11...) that may or may not have been feeling the same emotions as me. The movie starts, and I think, "This is the end. It can't be." I just couldn't get it out of my mind that I'd never be in that place again...
Then, I had to go to the bathroom. My friend and I literally ran to the restrooms, did our business as fast as we could, then ran to the sinks, washed our hands, then ran back to the theater without even drying our hands. Good thing we were gone for maybe a minute, not even, otherwise I would have been very upset if I missed something important...
Now, I know I'm not the first one to say that the movie was incredible, but it truly, honestly was. Sure, not everything was true to the book, but how could it be? But, for the most part, they did an incredible job doing justice to the book...
The part that I was anticipating most, Snape's memories, was literally perfect. Everything was perfect about it. Alan Rickman's acting was just phenomenal. I cried like a little baby at that part, and I could hear a few others in the crowd sniffing and holding back tears as well. Literally, it couldn't have been done better. Everything was just amazing. Purely amazing.
Everything on past that point, and come to think about it, even everything before it was perfect as well. It was just a very well-made movie all around. I couldn't have wished for a better movie to end a phenomenal franchise like that.
So, that's all I have to say about this right now, but I know there is SO much more that I could say.
For now,
Mischief Managed.
