I'm just a few minutes late, but I think that's okay, because it's still 11 in mountain time.
Today I got the honor to listen to a WW2 veteran speak. It was surreal. I was informed previously that he was a holocaust survivor, but I was wrong. It was still very very interesting, nonetheless. I'll post more tomorrow about it, because he said some things that really correlate with my ideals. He was an amazing speaker.
Anyway, today I watched 2 basketball games, one of which was my school's girl's varsity team, and they lost by like 9, and the other team was a 7th grade Catholic school team that I assistant coach... they, on the other hand, lost by 40. I felt bad for them, because I could tell they were really discouraged. One of the girls was actually crying... I told her not to worry about it, and that she had a good game- which she did.
Today, one of my favorite artists (Macklemore x Ryan Lewis) released a song that has previously only been heard on live recordings. It was called, "My Nikes" but now it's just called, "Wings", and I think it's very fitting.
At first you just think it's about getting the newest and coolest shoes, but really it's about how corporate products affect us as a society. We always have to have the newest and coolest things. I'll admit that I play a part of that. I have the nice Nike Hypderdunks, all that jazz. It's cool. But at the same time I feel guilty for buying Nike products, just because it's Nike.
Also, look up, "The Show Goes On" by Lupe Fiasco. It's seriously amazing. Also another hip-hop song that has meaning. And a great beat. And beastly rapping.
Okay, I gotta get up kinda early tomorrow for my 2nd basketball game, so that's why I didn't rally go in-depth on this today. I'm sure tomorrow will be more in depth because I won't have been running around all day.
..and I'm out.
